These Balsamic Baby Back Ribs are just about the easiest, most delicious thing you can make for a dinner party, or a nice Sunday dinner with the family. The reason is, that you just slowly bake them in the oven and they come out sooooo tender! You can use your favorite bottled BBQ sauce or make my recipe for Balsamic BBQ Sauce.
Start with a nice meaty Rack of Baby Back Ribs. Place in a roasting pan bone side down (meaty side up.) If you want to, you can line the pan with foil for easier clean-up…
Cut a lemon in half and squeeze the juice from both halves over the meat.
Sprinkle lightly with salt and pepper. Cover the top of the baking dish tightly with foil and place in a 275° oven on the middle rack.
Bake for 3 – 4 hours. (No peeking!) When you remove the foil, the meat should be almost falling off the bones!
Brush with Balsamic BBQ Sauce.
Return to oven to keep them warm until serving. You can serve them just like this, or if desired, you can turn the oven to broil and place the ribs on the top rack. Let broil for about 2 – 3 minutes or so until the sauce starts to caramelize (watch them carefully so they don’t burn.)
Like I said, you can use your favorite bottled BBQ sauce or make this one. By the way, if you have never made your own BBQ sauce before, you’ll realize how easy it is. You can also customize it to your taste by increasing or decreasing the amount of spices or brown sugar.
Balsamic BBQ Sauce
1/2 c. Balsamic vinegar
1/2 c. ketchup
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 garlic clove, minced
1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1/4 teaspoon liquid smoke
1/4 teaspoon salt
dash of fresh ground black pepper (or to taste)
Combine all the ingredients in a small saucepan and stir until all the ingredients are incorporated and the mixture is smooth. Simmer over low heat until reduced by 1/3 (it usually takes about 15 to 20 minutes.)
Serve the ribs with your favorite potatoes. We love them served with these Loaded, Twice Baked Mashed Potatoes.
