When it comes to snacking, these Ranch Seasoned Oyster Crackers are a fun and different snack. This snack is a handful of mini crackers roasted in the oven with a savory seasoning blend. The seasoning begins with dry Ranch Dressing Mix.
These little crackers are also delicious tossed into a bowl of hot soup! I especially love these with my Homemade Butternut Squash Soup!
This is an easy snack to make. In fact, my 9-year-old grandson loves these so much, last time he was here, he wanted to help make them so he could learn the recipe. The only part that needs to be done by an adult is putting the baking pan into the oven!
I got this recipe from my Aunt, who got it from the back of the Ranch Dressing Packet. I like my more flavorful so I doctored up the recipe a bit.
3/4 c. vegetable oil
1 pkg. ranch dressing mix, dry
1 t. dill weed
1/2 t. lemon pepper
1/4 – 1/2 t. garlic powder (to taste)
2 boxes plain Oyster Crackers (reduced sodium is great, but not necessary)
Whisk together the oil, dry ranch mix and seasonings.
Put oyster crackers in a large bowl. Pour oil mixture over the plain crackers.
Stir well to coat. Spread the crackers onto a baking sheet and bake 15-20 minutes at 275°. Stir halfway through baking time.
Store in an airtight container or Ziploc bag. They are best if used within a couple of weeks.
