Italian Bread Sandwich Rolls


When it comes to making sandwiches, the bread is almost the most important part.  If you want a delicious deli sandwich on a fresh soft roll, these are for you.  You can throw these together in no time!

Usually, when we have a get together, I like to make my rolls fresh.  These can be made the night before and not only are they delicious, but your house will smell so good!

You probably already have everything you need in your pantry!

1 pkg. yeast
1 c. warm water
1 t. salt
2 1/2 c. flour

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add salt and enough flour to make dough easy to handle. Knead 5 minutes until smooth and elastic (if using bread mixer, add only enough flour to clean the sides of the mixing bowl. Mix on high 6 minutes). Let rise until double. Punch down dough and form into 8 small french bread shaped rolls.  Using a sharp knife, make 1/2“ deep slits diagonally across top of the rolls. Brush tops of rolls with an egg wash (1 egg + 1T. water.)

Let rise until double , then bake for 14-16 minutes at 375° or until golden.  Allow to cool and slice for sandwiches.
