Homemade Montreal Seasoning

One thing I love to do is to make my own seasoning mixes. My latest concoction is Montreal Seasoning. Sure, I could buy this in a jar or a packet, but when I make my own, I can control the ingredients. It’s fun to experiment and come up with my own new seasonings. I have been using this Montreal Seasoning in all kinds of recipes. Not only is it good on meat and pork, but I lovvvve it as the seasoning on oven roasted vegetables. I also use it in place of seasoning salt in my chicken salad, As you’ll notice, the ingredients are common ones you might find in your own spice cupboard. Try it! Here’s what you need:

  • 1 tablespoon paprika (I like to use smoked paprika)
  • 1 tablespoon granulated garlic
  • 1 tablespoon granulated onion
  • 1 tablespoon coarse Kosher salt
  • 2 teaspoons coarse ground pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dry dill weed
  • 1 ½ teaspoons ground coriander
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon. lemon pepper

Mix all ingredients in a small dish and stir with a fork until well blended. Store in a small jar and use as needed.

Like I said, I love this as a seasoning on oven roasted vegetables. Here’s what I do:

Preheat the oven to 400°. Cut up your favorite fresh vegetables and drizzle them with olive oil. Sprinkle with a little bit of Montreal Seasoning(about a teaspoon or 2 for the entire baking sheet) and roast for about 25 – 30 minutes. Stir after about 10 minutes. Continue roasting until tender/crisp.

I found these cute little 4 oz. jars that are perfect for spices. They even have a little flip top lid with holes to sprinkle the seasoning.
