Finally, a recipe for more youthful skin! Vitamin C Serum.
I found a recipe for Vitamin C Serum here. There are actually several sites online that explain the benefits of applying vitamin C topically. I thought since my skin is sometimes sensitive, I would make mine less potent than their serum recipes.
It is important to only use this at night since it may make you more sensitive to sun exposure.
The most important ingredient in this serum is Vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid) powder . This is NOT just crushed up Vitamin C tablets.
You need to make the serum in small amounts as the ingredients start to oxidize within a few days rendering it useless. It also must be stored in a dark colored container to keep out the light. I use a small measuring cup (from an old bottle of cold medicine to measure my ingredients.)
If the serum begins to turn yellow, it has begun to oxidize. You’ll need to make a fresh batch.
Measure in a small container:
1 t. distilled water.
1/2 t. Vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid)
Keep in a dark place such as the medicine cabinet for at least an hour. It should be dissolved completely. When it’s dissolved, add:
1 t. vegetable glycerin
Swirl it in the container to combine. Store in a dark colored dropper bottle in the medicine cabinet or other dark place. Here’s an inexpensive dark colored bottle:
To use, apply a few drops to your freshly washed face at night. You will notice a huge difference in your skin after a few weeks!
The L-Ascorbic Acid is sold on Amazon. I have looked for it in my local health food store but they don’t carry the L-Ascorbic Acid. They have other forms of powdered Vitamin C, but they are not effective in this serum.
The vegetable glycerin can be found in health food stores and is also sold on Amazon.

As with any new skincare product, test it on a small patch of skin before applying it all over your face. Some people may have negative reactions so if you feel any discomfort or uncomfortable tingling, wash it off and discontinue use.
