Balsamic Glaze

Balsamic Glaze – It’s Easy!

When my garden tomatoes ripen, I love to make a simple Caprese Salad. The slices of red, ripe tomatoes, soft fresh Mozzarella slices and fresh basil leaves are so colorful, and delicious drizzled with a little bit of olive oil and this sweet Balsamic Glaze. Balsamic glaze can be purchased ready made in a bottle, but why would you buy it, when it’s so easy to make it yourself. If you can measure vinegar and stir in some brown sugar. You’re half-way there!

Here’s how to make it:

1 cup Balsamic Vinegar

1 tablespoon brown sugar

Stir together in a saucepan and bring to a boil, while stirring constantly. Reduce the heat to medium-low and allow to gently simmer about 15 minutes, stirring frequently. The glaze is done when it has reduced by 1/3. It will thicken slightly as it cools.

Balsamic Glaze is so easy to make

Could it get much easier?

There are many other uses for Balsamic Glaze besides Caprese Salad. It can be used for grilled chicken or pork tenderloin, pizza, sauteed carrots. It is also delicious drizzled over fresh strawberries or nectarines, cheeses or even as a topping over vanilla ice cream!

*This recipe can be easily doubled. The directions are the same.
