Yep, football season is coming! Watching football with family and friends is the perfect excuse to gorge ourselves on party food! In my opinion, 7-layer taco dip is one of the best dips ever! And it’s got to be our favorite party food for the big game.
The sour cream is mixed with taco seasoning, so it’s just the perfect blend of flavors.
Here’s how I make this tasty dip!
2-3 large, ripe avocados – peeled, pitted and diced
1 T. fresh lime juice
1/4 c. chopped fresh cilantro
1/4 c. salsa
garlic salt to taste
ground black pepper to taste
1 – 2 c. sour cream
1 pkg. taco seasoning mix* (or less, depending on your taste)
4 Roma tomatoes, diced
1 bunch green onions, finely chopped
1 – 16-oz. can re-fried beans
2 c. shredded cheddar or Mexican-style cheese blend
1 small can sliced black olives, drained
In a medium bowl, mash the avocados. Mix in lime juice, cilantro, salsa, garlic salt and pepper to taste.
In a small bowl, blend the sour cream and taco seasoning.
In a 9×13 inch dish or serving platter, spread the re-fried beans (if necessary, add about 2 T. warm water and stir into the beans so they will spread easily onto the platter). Top the bean layer with the sour cream mixture. Next, spread on the avocado mixture (guacamole.) Top with the diced tomatoes, green onions, grated cheese and the sliced black olives.
Count ’em…7 layers!
Serve with tortilla chips. Just a warning…you won’t be able to stop eating this!
